There has been quite a bit of media coverage of the book since its publication on 21 May 2026, so I thought I would take a moment to gather it all in one place.

Below are many of the reviews thus far, with links where possible, as well as interviews, extracts in The Wire and Uncut, news items in the Bookseller and a 3+ hour playlist I compiled to accompany the book.

Also, some photos from the great event we had in Edinburgh (there will be news on further events related to In Another World soon).

Reviews

‘Glorious’ – Electronic Sound

‘Genuinely illuminating ... with all the depth of detail such “world building” entails’ ― The Wire

‘Elegantly articulates the sensuality of the band’s sound … [a] fascinating and stirring tribute to one of the most inscrutable bands of the ‘80s’ – Classic Pop, 4/5 stars

‘Few music biographies are real page turners in the manner this one is ... Ultimately, this is a book which will not only take you back to the music, as the best music biographies do, it will make you listen in a new way. In Another World: The Four Seasons of Talk Talk is not an instruction manual, it’s a guide book, and it opens up a magical, and often moving, journey’ – Product magazine

‘It’s the enveloping silence at the core of this immersive book that rings truest ... in sending us back to these timeless records, and slowing us down to their meticulous individual heartbeats, Thomson achieves exactly what he – and Hollis – set out to do’ – Spectrum Culture

‘With a thoroughness which would do Hollis proud, Thomson paints a passionate, informed picture. (An) excellent musical investigation 4/5 stars’ – Record Collector

‘Graeme Thomson does an excellent job of examining their legacy through the albums The Colour of Spring, Spirit of Eden, Laughing Stock and Mark Hollis, reconstructing the painstaking processes involved in their making. Essential reading. BOOK OF THE WEEK’ – Yorkshire Post

‘Thomson vividly fills the gaps with forensic detail, deep listening and jigsaw anecdotes piecing together a picture of an inscrutable artist’ – MOJO, 4/5 stars

‘Curious, warm, reflective, enlightening: entirely in the spirit of their wonderful music’ – Nicola Meighan, A Kick Up The Arts

‘For a band whose mystique has only deepened in the years since Hollis’s passing, this is the document their legacy has been waiting for’ – Eric Alper, SiriusXM

‘Thomson’s book honours that mystique while at the same time attempting to decipher the glorious intensity of the music’ – The List

'A pointedly personal celebration of an often insane-sounding musical visionary, whose working methods bordered on madness. Hollis once stated, ‘I would rather hear one note than I would two, and I would rather hear silence than I would one note’, yet nevertheless, this admirable book makes plain, his music demands to be heard to this day' -- Travis Elborough ― The Idler
